New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA)
“Assistance for Sexual Violence Survivors During COVID-19”
Evergreen (no expiration date)
The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) would appreciate your station or network’s support in airing its new video public service announcements (PSAs). The PSAs were released as part of a public awareness campaign regarding the availability of sexual violence support services in the Garden State during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are over 1.8 million survivors of sexual violence living in New Jersey. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), research has shown a link between an increase of sexual violence during times of natural disasters, including pandemics. In addition, according to NJCASA, fewer survivors of sexual violence have been accessing New Jersey-based assistance since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NJCASA PSAs, which are available in English and Spanish, highlight that free, confidential sexual violence resources remain available to assist survivors of sexual violence in New Jersey, even in the midst of the global pandemic. Survivors and their loved ones are encouraged to call the statewide confidential hotline at 800-601-7200 or visit njcasa.org to find help in their county.
