Louisiana 988 Helpline
Connecting Louisianans to 988 Campaign
Program Description
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) launched the 988 helpline to make it easier for residents to get help when they need it. The helpline ensures that everyone in Louisiana has access to quality emotional and mental health services—whether you’re experiencing issues around anxiety, depression, alcohol or drugs, thoughts of suicide, or anything in between.
The new 3-digit number replaces the 10-digit National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Numerous studies have shown that the helpline works—most callers are significantly more likely to feel less depressed, less suicidal, less overwhelmed, and more hopeful after speaking to a 988 specialist. For more information visit our About Us or the state site on 988 in Louisiana, which includes the state dashboard that provides key monthly metrics from Louisiana’s two 988 call centers in Bossier City and New Orleans.
