Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)
Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) Campaign
Adults aged 60 years and older, as well as incapacitated adults 18 and older, often experience abuse, neglect, self-neglect, and exploitation.
The purpose of the DARS PSA campaign is to encourage Virginians to report suspected adult mistreatment to Adult Protective Services (APS). APS is a social services program focused on helping older and other vulnerable adults live free from abuse by responding to reports of mistreatment. Local APS workers may provide or arrange for health, housing, social, and legal services to stop the abuse and prevent further maltreatment.
The PSAs encourage viewers to call the 24-hour, toll-free APS hotline at (888) 832-3858 to report suspected adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Your support can make a vital difference in the lives of those in need.
