Operation Never Forgotten
“Operation Never Forgotten” Campaign
Program Description: Operation Never Forgotten (ONF) announces the release of its Public Service Announcement (PSA) entitled Help Save a Life. The PSA depicts a veteran dealing with the invisible wounds of military service. It shows how we can offer hope and support to help prevent Veteran suicide. The PSA helps support ONF’s mission to help educate the public to better understand and help those who have given so greatly to protect us and our freedoms.
More than half of the 2.6 million courageous men and women who served in Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom, (OEF/OIF) struggle with physical or invisible injuries. More than 8,000 heroes have fallen, having paid the ultimate sacrifice. Substance abuse, depression, and domestic violence plague veterans with invisible and physical wounds. OEF/OIF warriors sadly contribute to the 22 veteran suicides daily. Operation Never Forgotten (ONF) provides a website, www.operationNEVERforgotten.org, where wounded veterans, caregivers, families, and deployed troops can learn more, volunteer, and help bridge the gap between military and civilian worlds.
- Inform viewers of the challenges Veterans face both physically and emotionally
- Provide a resource at www.operationNEVERforgotten.org as well as provide access to the Veteran’s Crisis Line
- Educate the public to better understand how the stigma associated with visible and invisible wounds can sometimes prevent Veterans from asking for help
- Highlight the ways the public can volunteer and help prevent Veteran suicide
