“Generic Drugs” Campaign

Program Description: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is introducing a PSA Campaign meant to reduce consumer concerns that generic drugs are less effective than their brand-name counterparts, assure them of the rigor of FDA review, and encourage them to talk with their healthcare provider if they have any questions or concern

Campaign Mission: 

  • Increase the overall understanding of generic drugs as safe and effective treatment choices.
  • Explain that generic drugs are as effective as their name-brand counterparts.
  • Improve patient attitudes toward adhering to generic drugs once parents are switched from the name-brand alternatives.
