Song for Charlie
“Honest Conversations / Real Talk” Campaign
Program Description
Song for Charlie invites your station or network to participate in airing its public service announcement campaign, “The New Drug Talk — Connect to Protect.”
This campaign addresses the ongoing dangers of counterfeit prescription pills and fentanyl overdose by encouraging open, honest conversations between parents and teens about drug use. Through real stories and unscripted dialogue, the PSAs highlight the importance of communication, awareness and early education in preventing tragic outcomes.
Fentanyl poses a deadly risk, as the drug is often used to create counterfeit prescription pills, sold as Xanax, Percocet and Oxycodone, and is also found in substances like cocaine, ecstasy, heroin and meth. Many users are unaware of its presence, significantly increasing the risk of accidental overdose.
With fentanyl involved in 70% of Gen Z drug-related deaths and 45% of teens still unaware that fentanyl is being used to make fake prescription pills, raising awareness and equipping
families with knowledge is critical to helping prevent further loss.
